Rhythm. Connection. Community.

Nels Anderson

Owner of Drum Utah | Co-owner of Bowerbird Art Studio

Nels Anderson blends science, art, and rhythm to create unique, hands-on experiences that inspire learning, connection, and play. Raised in a rural community, his love for nature led him to work on a permaculture farm in Costa Rica, where he developed a deep appreciation for sustainability and community-building. This passion for the natural world later guided him to study Biology at the University of Utah.

After graduating, Nels discovered the unifying power of rhythm and became a drum facilitator—not as a traditional musician, but as someone fascinated by rhythm’s ability to bring people together. This passion eventually led to the creation of Drum Utah, where he integrates music, science, teamwork, and culture into dynamic group experiences.

Over the years, Nels has led innovative programs across the U.S. and internationally, working with schools, companies, treatment centers, and communities of all kinds. Whether facilitating team-building, exploring the science of sound, or sparking joy through rhythm, his mission remains the same: to help people connect—through music, laughter, and play.
